Bangladesh Accreditation Board (BAB) and UNIDO – BEST project jointly organized a “Lead Auditor Course on ISO 9001 : 2008, Quality Management System (QMS)” from 2-6 September 2012 in Hotel Rupashi Bangla, Dhaka. The course was conducted by Mr. Anantha Prabhu, Lead Auditor ISO 9001, ISO 14001, BS OHSAS 18001 and ISO / TS 16949 and General Manager, Automotive Certification & Training Services. and Mr. Md. Golam Kibria, Lead Auditor on ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, SA 8000, Lead Tutor on ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 and Country Manager, Bureau Veritas (Bangladesh) Private Limited. Twenty participants from different government and private organizations attended the training.

With the cooperation of Institute of Applied Quality Management (IAQM), India, BAB arranged a two day each understanding training program on ISO/IEC 17025:2005 and ISO 15189 separately from 2-5 July 2012.13 participants from different medical colleges & hospitals were present in the ISO 15189 training and 26 participants from different testing laboratories and related organizations participated in the ISO/IEC 17025 training.

BCSIR gets accreditation from BAB

Bangladesh Accreditation Board (BAB) on 9 June 2012 awarded the first-ever laboratory accreditation on ISO/IEC 17025 : 2005 to Institute of National Analytical Research & Service (INARS) of Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (BCSIR). Industries Minister Dilip Barua handed over the certificate to the high officials of BCSIR, known as Science Laboratory, at a seminar in observance of World Accreditation Day 2012 at DCCI auditorium.

Bangladesh Accreditation Board (BAB) observed the World Accreditation Day 2012 on June 9 in Dhaka with great enthusiasm. Marking the day, BAB and Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) jointly organized a seminar at DCCI auditorium in Motijheel, Dhaka and published publicity materials, posters and colorful souvenirs, bags and pens.

The theme of the day of this year is “Accreditation: Supporting safe food and clean drinking water”. Honorable President, Prime Minister & Industries Minister have given separate messages to grace the occasion.

The seminar was presided over by Advocate Moinuddin Miajee, Chairman, BAB, while Industries Minister Mr. Dilip Barua attended as the chief guest. FBCCI Director M.A Haque, DCCI, President Asif Ibrahim, and Industries Additional Secretary A.B.M Khorshed Alam spoke, among others. Expressing their grave concern, speakers said , how accreditation acts as a gatekeeper in supporting the provision of safe food and clean drinking water, and ultimately enhances the confidence of regulators, businesses and consumers.

In this seminar a theme paper was presented by M. Mamun Chowdhury of SGS Bangladesh Limited. Dr Franz Hengstberger, International Accreditation Expert, UNIDO, Ned Gravel, Principal, MOTIVA Training of Canada was the technical paper presenter.

Government and non-government organizations, accreditation related personnel, businessmen and industrial personalities, laboratory personnel, academicians, journalists were present and participated in the open discussion.

To mark the day A TV talk show was telecasted in Bangladesh Television (BTV) .

PM stresses quality of Bangladesh’s exportable to survive in world market

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on 13 March 2012 directed the Bangladesh Accreditation Board to raise its standard to world class.
She also stressed the need for ensuring the quality of Bangladesh’s exportable goods to survive in the competitive international market.
The Prime Minister’s exhortations came when a delegation of Bangladesh Accreditation Board met her at her office. Briefing the reporters after the meeting, PM’s press secretary Abul Kalam Azad said that the Prime Minister also expressed satisfaction over the progress of the board’s performance in the last three years.

Industries Minister Dilip Barua, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister Sheikh M Wahid Uz Zaman and PMO Secretary Molla Waheeduzzaman were, among others, present.

BAB Assessor Training -Refresher Course

BAB organized a two day training course for refreshing the assessors of different standards on 2-3 March 2012 at NPO Seminar Hall, Dhaka. Around 30 Assessors from different fields participated in the training.

The training was conducted by J.E.J. (Ned) Gravel, CD, P Eng, CA-LS, CAE, IPL, Principal, MOTIVA Training, Canada.
