BAB Organizational Chart

The Board

Bangladesh Accreditation Board (BAB) is constituted by 14 members from different ministries and professional bodies. The Board is headed by a Chairman whose responsibilities include presiding over meetings of the Board and maintaining a general oversight of the organization to ensure implementation of  policies and decisions. Chairman is nominated by the government.

  • Responsible for the overall accreditation program.
  • Set policies and approval of rules and regulations for its operation.
  • Responsible to ensure that the financial affairs of the organization are under control and properly reported.
  • May appoint sub-committees for specific tasks and may also appoint technical committees to provide technical advices and recommendations for various sect oral activities.

Board Secretariat

Bangladesh Accreditation Board secretariat is headed by a Director General, a knowledgeable person in industry, science & technology, who is appointed by the Government. Director General acts as Chief Executive Officer and Member Secretary of the Board.

The Board employs appropriate number of technical and administrative officials and ancillary staff. Officials include a Quality Manager and appropriate number of technically qualified officers who are also qualified lead assessors/assessors as defined in the relevant ISO/IEC standards. These officers also provide secretarial assistance and technical support to the Technical Committees. Other staff members provide secretarial and administrative support for the Board’s operations.

Technical Committee (TC):

The Technical Committees evaluate the assessment reports prepared and submitted by the Lead Assessor and makes recommendation to the Director General, BAB regarding the Accreditation of the applicant organization. It has been created in a manner so as to maximize the uniformity of interpretation and judgment. Balance of interest is kept in mind while framing such committees.

Appeals Committee (AC):

When the complaints and disputes raised against BAB, organizations are having the option to make an appeal to the Director General of BAB. The Appeal Committee formed by the Board will look into the grievances of the appellant. The Committee is impartial and its resolutions are binding on both the parties.

Lead Assessor:

The Lead Assessor is overall responsible for conducting the assessment of the applicant organization for evaluating the adequacy of the Quality Manual, conducting pre-assessment, final assessment & submission of the assessment report to BAB. Lead Assessor may be selected either from internal (BAB officers) or external sources.

Assessors:

BAB assessors evaluate the Technical Competence and Quality System of the organization for its compliance to ISO/IEC standards and guidelines and supplementary explanations. BAB officers are also engaged as Assessor in the respective fields.

Technical Experts:

BAB has empaneled technically expert person from various fields and scope of accreditation. These experts are trained by BAB or by equivalent APLAC/EA/ILAC/IAF/PAC MRA/MLA member AB’s on accreditation and audit techniques.
