Since 2007 BAB is Associate Member of the Asia Pacific Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (APLAC).
APLAC plans to serve international trade by reducing barriers and facilitating recognition of test, measurement and inspection reports issued by accredited organizations through APLAC, MRA. APLAC’s membership consists of accreditation bodies in the Asia Pacific region responsible for accrediting calibration, testing and inspection facilities and reference material producers.
By signing the arrangement (MRA), each of the signatory accreditation bodies commits to promoting acceptance of reports issued by the organizations accredited by the other signatory accreditation bodies.
In 2010, BAB has obtained Affiliate Membership of International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC).
The ILAC Arrangement supports international trade by promoting international confidence and acceptance of accredited laboratory data. Technical barriers to trade, such as the retesting of products each time they enter a new economy would be reduced.
BAB has earned the Associate Membership of Pacific Accreditation Cooperation (PAC) in 2011 at the 18th plenary meeting of PAC, held on 16 June in Manila, Philippines.
PAC’s membership consists of accreditation bodies in the Pacific region responsible for accrediting certification bodies.
Becoming a MRA signatory of PAC, BAB promotes the recognition and acceptance of certificates issued by the organizations accredited by BAB to other accreditation bodies that have signed the arrangement.
BAB will soon seek the membership of International Accreditation Forum (IAF)
Accreditation bodies which are members of IAF are required to operate at the highest standard and require the bodies they accredit to comply with appropriate international standards. Certificates issued by bodies accredited by members of the IAF Multilateral Recognition Arrangement (MLA) are relied upon all over the world because the MLA assures customers that the certificate is credible.
BAB also seeks strategic relationships with more mature bodies worldwide and aims to play a full part in the international accreditation community.
